TORONTO, February 27, 2009 - (TSX - BWR, BWR.WT.A) Early this morning a magnitude 8.8 earthquake occurred in central Chile, 114 kilometres (71 miles) NNE (15 degrees) of Concepci�n, approximately 1000 kilometres north of Breakwater's Toqui mine. The earthquake was noticed at the Toqui mine site; however, preliminary indications are that there has been no damage to infrastructure at the mine site. We are continuing to monitor the situation; our major concern right now is for the families of our employees and the people of Chile.
Breakwater is a mining, exploration and development company which produces and sells zinc, copper, lead and gold concentrates to customers around the world. The Company's concentrate production is derived from three mines in Chile, Honduras and Canada. Breakwater's Langlois mine in Qu�bec, Canada is currently on temporary care and maintenance.
