Tirex Resources Appoints Honourable Sheila Copps OC, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, as Special Advisor

Vancouver, BC - Tirex Resources Ltd. (TSX.V:TXX) ("Tirex") is pleased to announce it has appointed the Honourable Sheila Copps to the position of Special Advisor.

• Ms. Copps is also a former Canadian Minister of Environment
• Internationally recognized for her leadership on environment issues

Ms. Copps, the first woman ever named to the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, also served as Canada's Minister of Environment. She was at the forefront of internationally recognized environmental assessment legislation. As Minister responsible for Canada's National Park System, Ms. Copps introduced the concept of ecological integrity, which has subsequently been adopted internationally. She also spearheaded the UNESCO convention on cultural diversity. Her leadership in areas such as environmental stewardship, and women's and minority rights has been recognized not only in Canada but throughout the world.

Ms. Copps was a long standing cabinet member in Canada, serving as a Minister for 10 years. In addition to her role as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment, she also served as Minister of Canadian Heritage, responsible for parks, broadcasting, arts and culture, status of women, urban Aboriginals, multiculturalism, official language and sport policies. She is the author of two books and has also worked as a journalist, broadcaster and political commentator in both English and French. On June 23, 2013, Albania held general elections and the Alliance for a European Albania (ASHE) won these elections decisively. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Designate Edi Rama, the ASHE will take power on September 9, 2013. The ASHE has made European Union integration a key priority of the new government and has also recently announced his incoming cabinet which consists of the largest number of female appointees in Albanian history. Prime Minister Designate Rama has also named former British Prime Minister Tony Blair as an advisor to the incoming government.
