>The Birth of American Imperialism  - Tom DiLorenzo -
Another diatribe against General Sherman and the actions of Lincoln and the North to retain the Union and eliminate slavery. Never in any of DiLorenzo's rants do we hear a condemnation of the horrors of slavery in the Southern States. Never a peep. Never a mention of Southern atrocities at Andersonville prison. Never a mention of the stupidity of Robert E. Lee for siding with his State of Virginia and the insitution of slavery over his nation and freedom.

Whatever Sherman may have done after the Civil War, his actions during it were exemplary by any historical standard. Confederates of the past were more pissed at Sherman for stealing their chickens than killing their soldiers. Lincoln ended the horror of slavery with the help of Generals Grant and Sherman. It is disturbing that this is a problem with DiLorenzo.

DiLorenzo, Like Ron Paul, appears to be so blinded by the issue of State's rights that such an atrocity as slavery can be overlooked -- apparently anything goes, as long as the Federal Government isn't a part of it.

In a recent debate, Ron Paul said, if elected President -- though he would abolish the coercion of Federal mandatory health care -- he would do nothing about a State version of it. Coercion is coercion, no matter Federal or State.

So what is the source of DiLorenzo's irrational hatred of the North? Is he an Anarchist that resents any kind of authority?
