Mr. Lewis fed us a line of hooey, telling us that with the introduction of paper dollar bills, people just did not want to have silver ones anymore. The facts are that large new deposits of silver were found in the west and that severly depressed its value. And that is one of the chief reasons why commodity based currencies do not work.
