So what to make of Kunstler's incomprehensible convoluted rants? This line is the most revealing, if anything from his jabberwocky style can be deciphered:

"They don’t recognize the basic energy equation that has made it impossible for industrial economies to keep growing..."

Those who have followed Kunstler know that he has long predicted the end of oil - Peak Oil - as he called it. He seldom mentions it now except in veiled comments like the above. The fact is the world is now drowning in oil due to increased exploration and 'evil' technological advances. You see, Kunstler is the latest 'Back to Nature Boy', an American Pol Pot who would shear us of our technological gadgets and herd us all back into the woods, a return to Cro-Magnon Eden.

Oil, or energy, is not the issue for the world: it is government control, control of the individual to choose his or her own life...such choices anathema to Kunstler. He seems to have a vision of what individuals ought to do, where individuals ought to live, what individuals ought to use for personal transportation. That individuals have eschewed his advice must bedevil the bejabbers out of him...that Trump might be elected....you can imagine.

The damage has been done to the two long-reigning political parties and perhaps that’s a good thing. They deserved to be dragged into the gutter and now they can either go through a severe rehab or be replaced by as-yet-unformed coalitions of reality-based interests.
