The obvious question that occurs to me, from this article, is why doesn't the UN, US, UK and all the usual suspects, not 'intervene on humanitarian grounds' as they have done in many other countries? One concludes that there has already been massive intervention, already.
Mr Chavez had decided, amongst other things, to sell the nationalised oil for gold, instead of dollars - he got mortally sick, not long after that, and the Venezuelan bond market mysteriously got sick, too.
All the rest of the problems followed on from that.

To atone for all the alleged unfairness of “capitalist society” he promised explosive growth of welfare statism, complete with “free” education, free health care, free housing, and a virtual “economic bill of rights” filled with free everything.
