According to Mr. Hedges America is in decline. How did he come to that conclusion? By studying, of all things, wrestling. You see it is through popular culture that the soul of a society is revealed....and so Mr. hedges chose wrestling after much in-depth intellectual effort and strain.

Not to base his analysis on a single aspect of culture, he also chose (again in great depth) to study the porn industry. Wrestling and pornography - talk about looking through a lens darkly. i guess he didn't really wish to immerse himself in that filth, but, given his idealistic nature, he force himself to do it. The things a man will do for truth and justice!

Personally I would have based my study on the popularity of American poker - but that's just where my interest lies, along with checking out the articles on this great site.

Solutions? Recommendations? Nothing worth mention.

Début de l'article :I came across a nice, compact interview with Chris Hedges which illuminates his thesis of the decline of the American Empire and the illusions and the end of rational thinking that accompanies it.
