>On the Five Reasons not to Vote  - Doug Casey - Casey Research
Doug Casey is an anarchist.

Asked why it would be unethical to vote in the upcoming election, Casey said, "The first reason is that voting is an unethical act, in and of itself. That's because the state is pure, institutionalized coercion." Casey's judgement on voting has NOTHING to do with the choice of candidate and their political positions -- it has to do with the act itself. Doug thinks all government is immoral, including the limited one envisioned by our Founding Fathers.

Another inane reason Casey won't vote is because it's degrading, taking precious time out of his day.

Casey also does not wish to be personally guilty in the result:

L: At least you won't have blood on your hands.

Doug: That's exactly the point.

Doug Casey is deluded to think anarchy would be any better than the initial limited system of government that made America the historical dream of freedom and wealth it has become. That we have strayed from that dream is obvious -- and the solution to today's ills, a return to limited government, just as obvious. As for not wishing to have 'blood on his hands one has only to look at the historical record of anarchy: chaos, mob rule, tribal rule, private armies, endless Hatfied McCoy fueds.

I believe anarchists are as dangerous to personal liberty as those that advocate rule by dictators and kings.

There is a reason to vote: remove Socialist Obama. Romney at least is making free enterprise noises, would push drilling on public lands, repeal Obamacare, lower some taxes.

But given the views you've already expressed on the Tea Party movement and anarchy, I'm sure you have different ideas. What do you make of the impendingcircus, and what should a rational man do? Doug: Well, a rational man, which is to say, an ethical man, would almost certainly not vote in this election, or in any other – at least above a local level, where you personally know most of both your neighbors and the candidates...
