An excellent question. In a corrupt market, one is simply taking an educated guess as opposed to using any sort of skill to anticipate future results. Unfortunately, unless one is in on the 'game', you really don't know if your bet will ever be honored. Therefore, the only educated play is to avoid those games or 'markets' where your chance of return can be considered with a degree of certainty.

Therefore to answer your question, you must avoid any sort of market where gold can be bought or sold without trust. In other words, physical only with delivery being taken.
