There's even newer scholarship indicating that of the fifteen to twenty million North American Indians who perished in the North American Holocaust, more than fifty percent of those victims were killed by DIRECT, HANDS-ON VIOLENCE. Of course, there is now an ongoing and contentious discussion over what is true and what's not. However, even if the contaminated blanket theory were mostly true, it was done intentionally. The white people knew exactly what they were doing when they provided Native Americans with contaminated goods and they knew precisely what the damage would be. All one needs to do is to read the personal and public papers, pronouncements and discussions of the 'great' white men of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to understand that the Native American Holocaust was, indeed, intentional with a black, destructive and disastrous objective. This is one of the reasons Mr. Casey had such a difficult time finding out what the population of Native Americans was during that time period and it is one of the reasons that our national indignation concerning 'monsters' like Assad and Saddam rings so insincerely.
