The Geroe Creek exploration project area is located in northern Alaska, approximately 260 miles north of Fairbanks, and lies in the Philip Smith Mountains on the south flank of the south-central Brooks Range in rugged terrain. The project area sits primarily within the Chandalar mining district, but a small portion extends westward into the Koyukuk mining district.

References to the Chandalar mining region are common in the earliest mineral investigations completely by the U.S. Geological Survey in the early 20th century, particularly regarding the Little Squaw gold placer area.

The Arctic Alaska Terrane is a geologic terrane composed of a series of lithologic belts (or subterranes) bounded by major thrust structures that record a Jurassic-Cretaceous collision between a paleo-continental margin and oceanic rocks. Precambrian- to Cenozoic-aged metasedimentary and igneous rocks comprise the bulk of the rock types exposed in the Arctic Alaska Terrane.
