Mt Finnerty is located 400 kilometres east-northeast of Perth, between the towns of Coolgardie and Southern Cross.

The belt was last explored at a reconnaissance scale in the 1970's. Evidence of geochemical anomalism was located but only limited percussion drilling took place.

|
The project covers nickel prospective, high MgO
ultramafi c rocks which may represent the regional equivalent of the Lake Johnston belt to the south where
Norilsk Nickel is producing from the Emily Ann and Maggie Hays Nickel Deposits.
