Alamos Gold, Inc. (AGI) was a big mover last session with its shares rising over 7% on the day. The upside came on the company’s announcement that it has purchased 8,000,000 common shares of AuRico Metals Inc., at a price of C$0.70 per share. The transaction represents approximately 6.34% of AuRico’s outstanding common shares. This development led to far more shares changing hands yesterday than in a normal session. The move continues the recent uptrend of the company, as the stock has gained nearly 13% in the past five trading sessions. This intermediate gold producer in North America has seen no estimate revision in the last 7 days. The Zacks Consensus Estimate has also remained unchanged over the same time frame. Yesterday’s rally is encouraging though, so make sure to keep a close watch on this firm in the near future.
Alamos Gold currently has a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell) and its Earnings ESP is negative.
Investors interested in the gold mining industry may, however, consider Pretium Resources Inc. (PVG) that carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
