VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 16, 2011) - Thunderbird Energy Corp. (News - Market indicators) (FRANKFURT:M2Y) (the "Company" or "Thunderbird") ) today announced the appointment of Alan J. Walker to the Company's Board of Directors. Alan Walker holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the US Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in production management. After ten years of military service (US Army) based in both Turkey and Italy, Mr. Walker worked for General Electric, Amoco Production, and Questar. His major engineering activities were completion and production of sour gas and gas-condensate wells in the Overthrust belt, as well as production and planning of Questar's utility division natural gas requirements from legacy properties throughout the Rocky Mountains.
Mr. Walker's continued military service in the US Army Reserve focused on Special Operations throughout the Pacific with operations in Thailand, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the Maldives, and the Philippines. After 9/11 he was mobilized three times for deployments in Mindanao, Afghanistan, and Iraq. His latest assignment was as the Special Operations Liaison for General Petraeus in Baghdad during the "Surge" in early 2008.
Mr. Walker currently is the Technology Outreach Director for the USTAR (Utah Science, Technology, and Research) initiative and in that capacity has been working closely with Thunderbird, the South West Regional Partnership for Carbon Sequestration ("SWP") and various State and Federal agencies in order to advance the approval and implementation of the previously announced SWP Deep Saline CO2 Sequestration Project. Thunderbird and the SWP have completed their applications for approval of the SWP Project and are awaiting final review by the National Energy Technology Laboratory division of the US Department of Energy.
