07-14 - Cornerstone and Thundermin Commence Drill Program on the
Little Deer Copper Deposit, Newfoundland
======================================================================
Mount Pearl, NL, Canada: Cornerstone Capital Resources Inc.
(TSXV-CGP) (F-GWN) (B-GWN) (OTC-CTNXF) and partner Thundermin Resources
Inc. ("Thundermin") (THR:TSX) today announced that their $850,000
diamond drill program consisting of approximately 5,300 metres of
drilling in 8-9 holes has commenced on the Little Deer copper deposit
which is located approximately 10 kms north of Springdale in
north-central Newfoundland.
The purpose of the 2007 drill program is to confirm and increase the
copper mineralization, currently outlined by wide-spaced historical
holes, both at depth and along strike. The first hole of this program
will be collared to intersect the copper mineralization 100 m east of
hole LD-00-12 and approximately 150 metres west of hole LD-98-07 at a
vertical depth of approximately 550 m (see
http://www.cornerstoneresources.com).
The results of historical diamond drilling undertaken on the Little
Deer deposit in the 1960's by BRINEX and from 1998 to 2000 by Mutapa
Gold Corp. suggest that there is the potential to outline a significant
resource of economic grade copper mineralization below and along strike
from where shallow mining was undertaken in the early 1970's by BRINEX
and Green Bay Mining Company. Thirteen historical drill holes
containing significant copper mineralization over mineable widths occur
below the old mine workings over a distance of 600 m, from
approximately 250 m to 600 m below surface. Four of these holes,
LD-98-08 (1.6% Cu over 38.7 m, including 2.5% Cu over 8.3 m), LD-98-04
(4.3% Cu over 9.6 m), LD-98-07 (2.9% Cu over 5.8 m) and LD-00-12 (3.8%
Cu over 10.7 m), occur from east to west over a distance of
approximately 450 m on the 550 m elevation. Other significant
intersections below the old workings include LD-98-01 (5.2% Cu over 2.1
m), LD-98-02 (3.0% Cu over 7.3 m), LD-98-03 (3.1% Cu over 12.9 m),
LD-98-05 (2.3% Cu over 8.2 m), LD-66-135 (3.5% Cu over 8.0 m),
LD-66-136 (1.9% Cu over 6.2 m) and LD-67-143 (5.8% Cu over 1.5 m). Hole
LD-00-12 is the farthest west hole drilled to date, except for a few
shallow holes drilled by BRINEX in 1966.
Thundermin and Cornerstone have the option, on a 50/50 basis with
Thundermin as operator, to earn a 100% interest in the Little Deer
copper deposit and adjacent property from Weyburn Investments Ltd.
("Weyburn"). Details of the terms of the agreement with
Weyburn and the
results of historical exploration programs undertaken on the Little
Deer copper deposit are contained in news releases issued by Thundermin
and Cornerstone dated May 1 and June 21, 2007. This information can
also be found on Cornerstone's and Thundermin's respective websites at
http://www.cornerstoneresources.com and http://www.thundermin.com.
Mr. Andrew Hussey, PGeo., Project Geologist and Lands Manager,
Cornerstone Resources Inc., is the qualified person that will be
responsible for planning and carrying out the drilling program on the
property.
