DONNER METALS AND XSTRATA ZINC CANADA WIN INTERNATIONAL EXPLORATION AWARD

LONDON - The Mining Journal's Outstanding Exploration Achievement Award was awarded to the exploration team of Donner Metals (TSX-V: DON) and Xstrata Zinc Canada in London, England, on Wednesday.

Donner Metals, a Vancouver-based junior mining company, and Xstrata Zinc Canada have been working in the Matagami mining camp in Quebec since 2006 when the two companies signed a 50:50 joint venture agreement. The company was selected as a finalist for the award in recognition of its new geological interpretation of the region and its subsequent discovery of the Bracemac-McLeod zinc-copper property. Located only a few kilometers from the 3,000 person-strong town of Matagami, Quebec and only 5 kilometers from Xstrata�s 2,600 tonne per day Matagami Lake

Mill, Bracemac-McLeod is poised to be the region�s next producing mine. This is certainly the hope of the townspeople in Matagami. Matagami�s Mayor Ren� Dub� has been watching the Donner-Xstrata partnership very closely and is hopeful that Donner�s properties can extend the life of Xstrata�s mill �well beyond 2020.� Presently the mill is supplied by Xstrata Zinc Canada�s Perseverance Mine, which only has a 4.5 to 5.5 year mine life remaining. �Xstrata is Matagami�s resent,� Mayor Dub� says, �and Donner is Matagami�s future.�

The team is no stranger to winning awards. Last year, Donner-Xstrata won the Qu�bec Mineral Exploration Association�s Prospector of the Year Award. This year�s competition was international, with the likes of BHP Billiton, Churchill Mining, EMED Mining Public and Zambezi Resources in the running.

In its 6th year, Mines and Money London 2008 is known as the most important European mining conference. The conference is produced by the publishers of Mining Journal, the mining sector�s definitive weekly newspaper since 1835.

Reached for comment just after accepting the award, David Patterson, Chairman of Donner Metals, stressed how important this award is for the exploration team, the company and its shareholders. �This award is a testament to the fabulous exploration team the partnership is privileged to have and the exceptional quality of our Matagami project.� The Xstrata-Donner partnership was nominated for the award by the Quebec government�s SIDEX Ltd. partnership.

With the award now in the company�s bag and the entire town of Matagami watching, Mr. Patterson says that the Donner is presently awaiting word from Xstrata Zinc Canada on the results of a detailed scoping study presently in the works.
