Fortuna Announces Resignation of Director

January 30, 2009: Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. (TSX-V: FVI / Lima Exchange: FVI) announces that it has accepted the resignation of Arden "Buck" Morrow as a Director of the Company. Mr. Morrow is President, CEO and Director of Northland Resources Inc. and has been a director of Fortuna since 2006. He leaves the Board of Fortuna to concentrate his efforts on the development of Northland.

Commenting on the resignation, Fortuna President and CEO, Jorge Ganoza said, "The Board of Directors and I want to acknowledge and express our recognition for Buck's many contributions during his tenure on the Company's Board of Directors. Buck has been an active, hands-on director who has dedicated substantial time and effort to the Company. We wish him the best in his future endeavours."
