Antonio Moreno, president of Alstom in Spain, has been appointed president of the Industry Committee of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce. With this new Committee, the Chamber aims to find long term solutions to promote the industry as a model of growth. It will address, thereby, the challenges of a key sector in our economy because of its GDP weight and of the employment and export it generates. The size of Spanish companies, R+D+I investment, qualification of the workforce, digital transformation or the regulatory aspects are among the challenges this sector may face in the coming years to evolve in the right direction.
The Industry Committee is formed, among others, by Airbus, Almirall, Alstom España, Inditex, Indra, Mercadona, Renault España and Técnicas Reunidas. The Ministries of Industry, of Economy and of Competitiveness also participate.
The Spanish Chamber of Commerce is the institution in charge of representing the regional Chambers of Commerce towards national and international bodies and of organising networking between them. Internationalization, competitiveness, innovation, training, employment, mediation and arbitration are the basic axes of its action.
