Happy Creek Appoints Brian Welwood as Director and Chief Financial Officer

February 28, 2008, Vancouver, British Columbia - Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. (TSXV: HPY) (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Welwood as Director, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary. Mr. Welwood has been a Certified General Accountant (CGA) in British Columbia since 1976. He earned a Diploma of Technology in Financial Management from the BC Institute of Technology in 1970 and is founder and president of Brian Welwood & Co. Ltd., a private company that has provided consulting services in the areas of accounting, taxation and business management to small and medium enterprises, not-for-profit organizations and individuals since 1992. From 1992 to 1997, Mr. Welwood operated a CGA public accounting practice. He became licensed for insurance and mutual fund sales and provided financial planning services (CFP) from 1998 until 2003. From 1991 to 1992, Mr. Welwood was Vice President Finance, Secretary and Treasurer of Pe Ben Oilfield Services Ltd., a TSE-listed company with subsidiaries engaged in oilfield servicing and industrial construction. Prior to that, he spent 13 years in management positions with Dillingham Construction, four years as an auditor with Revenue Canada and two years in branch administration with the Bank of Nova Scotia.

Concurrent with his appointment as Director, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary, Mr. Welwood has been granted options to purchase 250,000 common shares of the Company. The options are exercisable at a price of $0.28 for a period of two years.

Scott Smith has resigned as Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of the Company, but will remain a Director.
