Dr. Stewart
Jackson, President and CEO of Acero-Martin Exploration Inc. (the “Company” or
“Acero-Martin”) is pleased to announce that the Company has
hired Mr. John Romero as Chief Geologist for its Pinaya project in southern
Peru. Mr. Romero is an accomplished geological engineer with over 15
years experience and a successful track record of advancing key mineral
projects in Peru
Most recently, Mr.
Romero was the Project Manager at Silver Standard Resources’ San Luis
project in central Peru where he was responsible for guiding the
exploration program, evaluating and interpreting geologic data, and
coordinating community relations efforts. Under Mr.
Romero’s leadership an initial NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate
was produced for the project and the deposit was advanced towards
feasibility.
Prior to joining Silver Standard, Mr. Romero was Senior Geologist at the
Toromocho project for Peru Copper Inc. During his four year tenure at
Toromocho, John oversaw more than 130,000 meters of drilling and helped
contribute to the understanding, definition, and expansion of the deposits
at the project. In 2007, the Aluminum Corporation of China announced
a friendly take-over bid to acquire Peru Copper.
Mr. Romero’s background also includes positions at
a number of other senior mining companies with operations in Peru,
including six years with Anglo American Exploration Peru S.A.
Concurrent with Mr. Romero’s appointment as Chief Geologist, Mr. Cary
Pothorin has stepped down as Vice President of Exploration. The
Company wishes to thank Mr. Pothorin for his contributions to the Company
and the advancement of the Pinaya project.
About Acero-Martin
Exploration Inc.
Acero-Martin’s 100%-owned Pinaya project hosts one of Peru’s
newest and richest copper-gold porphyry/skarn deposits. The project is
located 110 km northeast of Arequipa and approximately 60 kilometers south
of Xstrata’s Tintaya copper-gold mine, and is favoured with excellent
nearby mining infrastructure.
In September of 2006, based on the first 70 holes drilled, an initial
independently calculated NI 43-101 resource estimate was reported. It
stated that Pinaya hosts an Indicated Resource of 29.13 million tonnes
grading 0.53 g/t gold and 0.42% copper and an Inferred Resource of 12.72
million tonnes grading 0.41 g/t gold and 0.41% copper. This equates
to approximately 498,000 troy ounces of gold and 269,000,000 pounds of
copper in the Indicated category, and 168,000 troy ounces of gold and
115,000,000 pounds of copper in the Inferred category.
As of March 2008, the Company has completed an additional 79 holes
bringing the project totals to 40,900 meters and 149 holes. Drilling
since the release of the initial resource continues to work to expand the
size of the deposit and test new zones of mineralization.
Acero-Martin trades on the TSX-Venture exchange under the symbol ASD and
the Frankfurt stock exchange under the symbol AMX.
