SOLTORO BEGINS
DRILLING ON BACANORA
GOLD PROJECT IN
SONORA STATE,
MEXICO
Toronto, Ontario:
Soltoro Ltd. (SOL:TSX.V) has commenced Diamond drilling on its 100% owned
Bacanora gold project in Sonora, Mexico. Bacanora is being
investigated for a bulk tonnage gold deposit and is believed to be the
gold source feeding numerous placer deposits downstream along the Yaqui River. At Bacanora, gold is hosted in
intrusive rock and a prior trenching program returned 6 metres of 2.48 gpt gold
in the main zone with select samples in sheeted veins returning up to 14.9 gpt
gold.
In August of 2007, Soltoro completed building
drill pads, rehabilitation of roads and permitting to conduct a drill program.
The Company is conducting a 10 hole, 2,000 metre Diamond drill program and has
completed two drill holes to date. Two different styles of mineralization have
been observed. Sheeted vein mineralization hosted in a felsic intrusive and
sediment hosted veins in the underlaying sediments.
Initial drilling has intercepted sediment
hosted veins that occur within black shales with minor limestone that are
believed to be underlaying a felsic intrusive sill (which hosts gold bearing
sheeted quartz veins nearby). Sediment Hosted Vein (SHV) deposits are gold deposits that
consist of gold in quartz veins hosted by shale and siltstone sedimentary rocks.
These deposits occur throughout the world, but are most prolific in size and
number in Asia. One attractive characteristic
of SHV deposits from the mining standpoint is that they can be gold-only systems
and therefore are metallurgically simple. SHV deposits are associated with
prolific placer gold fields if conditions are right for the formation of placer
deposits and usually occur in deformed rocks of late Proterozoic to early
Paleozoic age. Other characteristics include; large sedimentary basins located
near a continental margin, multiple deformation events, cross structures, quartz
carbonate veining with carbonate and/or sericite alteration. All of these features have been noted at
Bacanora as well as the high associated As, Sb, W and Bi seen in the previsouly
sampled sheeted veins which overlay the sediments currently being drilled.
Soltoro is a junior exploration company active in
Mexico with 20,115,000 shares
outstanding. The Company is exploring for bulk tonnage gold, silver and copper
deposits in Mexico. Shares trade on the TSX
Venture Exchange under the symbol SOL.
