Dec. 16, 2015 - Black Hills Energy is committed to maintaining healthy, vibrant communities and has been working with the City of Norfolk to ensure our Northeast Nebraska communities have the natural gas supply they need by adding a new natural gas line, the Northeast Nebraska Line.
'Safe, reliable natural gas service from a dependable company is imperative to attracting new businesses to northeast Nebraska,' said Scott Zaruba, operations manager for Black Hills Energy. 'The increase in energy supply will make the Norfolk region a prime location for companies that want to expand or put down new roots. A recent example is OCT Pipe. This new supply of natural gas was a significant factor in OCT's decision to build a new pipe manufacturing facility in Norfolk.'
Black Hills Energy has determined the best, safest route for the 50-mile-long natural gas line and completed a preliminary environmental review and both archeological and historical assessments along this route. The company is continuing to work with landowners and agricultural producers along the route and anticipates beginning construction in the spring of 2016. The engineering process for the Northeast Nebraska Line began shortly after the project was announced in late January 2014 and the company plans to complete construction in the fall of 2016.
