International Mining Company, Southern Hemisphere Mining Limited (News - Market indicators)(ASX:SUH) ("Southern Hemisphere" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment to its Board of Mr. David Craig, as Non-Executive Chairman, and Dr. John Tarrant, as a Non-Executive Director, as from 1 June 2011.
Mr. David Craig
Mr. Craig joined the Company as a Non-Executive Director in November 2009 and assumes the Chairman's role from the Company's Managing Director, Mr. Trevor Tennant, who is currently based in Santiago, overseeing the Company's Chilean activities.
Mr. Craig is an experienced businessman and lawyer, who has held and holds executive and board positions in the fields of law, mining, construction, mining services, financial services and the petroleum industry. Currently he is Non‐Executive Deputy Chairman of Moly Mines Limited, Non-Executive Chairman of Gunson Resources Limited and a Non-Executive Director of Forge Group Limited and Nomad Building Solutions Limited.
Dr. John Tarrant
Dr. Tarrant has been involved in the mining and oil and gas industry for 20 years. He has held senior positions in a number of listed public companies, including as an Executive Director of companies listed in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. He has been involved in projects in Australia, Asia, Africa and South America.
Dr. Tarrant is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, a Certified Practising Accountant, a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia, a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and is admitted as a legal practitioner in a number of jurisdictions in Australia. Dr. Tarrant is also a part-time Professor of Law at the University of Western Australia.
Mr. Eduardo Valenzuela
Also, the Company wishes to advise that Mr. Eduardo Valenzuela has resigned as a Non-Executive Director of the Company effective 1 June 2011. He was one of the founding Directors of the Company and resigns to pursue other interests in a full time position. The Company would like to express its thanks to Mr. Valenzuela for his valuable contribution to the establishment and success of the Company over the past five years.
