Lakers News: Brandon Ingram ruled out vs. Pelicans

It looks like Brandon Ingram will have to sit out at least one more game before making his return to the court as the Los Angeles Lakers announced Ingram will miss Thursday’s matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans.

There was some optimism that Ingram would be ready to go by Thursday, but according to Lakers sideline reporter Mike Trudell, Ingram was “a little sore” after going through his work out yesterday. Not including Thursday’s game, Ingram has missed eight games for the Lakers with a groin injury he suffered on March 1 against the Miami Heat.

The next step for Ingram is going through a full contact practice, which head coach Luke Walton said could happen any time this week.

“When he’s ready for [contact drills] we’ll make something happen,” Walton said. “It probably won’t be a five-on-five with everyone there, but we’ll make sure we get enough guys in the gym to let him and let him really test it out before we get him out there on the court ... it could be Friday in Memphis or if he’s not ready it could be the next day after that when we get to Detroit.”

The Lakers will try and snap their three game losing streak in New Orleans on Thursday without Ingram. The Pelicans will be on the third night of the rare back-to-back-to-back, so the Lakers would be wise take advantage of their heavy legs.
