VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 21, 2011) - Animas Resources Ltd. (News - Market indicators) Animas Resources announces that it has closed the non-brokered private placement announced on June 9, 2011 for gross proceeds of $1,015,000.

Animas is focused on advancing the Santa Gertrudis gold deposit in Northern Mexico. In 2010, Animas completed an updated NI 43-101-compliant resource estimate technical report (see news release on January 5, 2011) and as part of that process, the geological team, lead by Greg McKelvey and John Wilson, identified 14 specific untested gold targets with potential to add to the near surface precious metal resource base at the Santa Gertrudis gold deposit.

The Santa Gertrudis gold deposit was a former gold producing mine in the 1990s using low cost open pit mining and heap leaching of ores. Animas is also assessing the costs of preparing feasibility studies that contemplate moving Santa Gertrudis back into production given the high gold prices at present.

Gregory E. McKelvey noted that "this financing shows the support that Animas has from it's core shareholders and insiders and their confidence in the Company to advance its projects. With current record high gold prices and our resource reports updated last year, we plan to look at the next stages of exploration and production costs this summer."

The private placement of 5,075,000 units at $0.20 per unit has been approved by the TSX Venture Exchange. Each unit is comprised of one common share and one-half of one non-transferable warrant. Each whole warrant entitles the holder to purchase one additional common share for a period of 24 months at a price of $0.30 per common share. In addition, Finder's Warrants, entitling the holder to purchase up to 105,000 Units for a period of 24 months from issue at $0.20 per Unit and cash finder's fees of $21,000 are paid. All securities issued are subject to a four-month hold period expiring on October 17, 2011. Insiders invested $350,000 in this placement. 

The financing proceeds will be invested to advance gold exploration at the Santa Gertrudis gold project in Mexico, for additional field work on the Kinsley Mountain gold property in Nevada, and for general corporate purposes.
