SUNRISE MINERALS CLOSES �FIRST TRANCHE OF PRIVATE PLACEMENT

Toronto, Ontario, August 10, 2007 - Sunrise Minerals Inc. [TSXV:SUN] has closed Tranche 1 for 7,267,500 units, representing gross proceeds of $ 1,162,800, of the non-brokered private placement previously announced on June 29, 2007 and amended on July 5th, 2007. Each unit consists of one common share and one transferable common share purchase warrant. Each whole warrant will be exercisable into one additional common share at an exercise price of $0.22 until August 10, 2009.

Proceeds from the private placement will be used to finance planning and the current phases of work on the projects in three gold properties in Baja California North, Mexico, and the evaluation of additional opportunities in Latin America and for general corporate purposes.
