A sleeper company to watch in 2013 is Comstock Metals.
I say that based on the good work that the company was able to do on its QV project in the Yukons White Gold district. In less than a year, Comstock was able to turn a large, 14,180-hectare property with a 395 ppb soil anomaly into a potential gold discovery.
The speed with which the company has put QV on the map as a gold find makes me optimistic for its plans for the project in 2013. During the summer and fall 2012 exploration season, Comstock moved from soil sampling to trenching to drilling at QV in rapid succession.
Along the way, the eight-hole, 1,334-meter drilling program on QVs VG zone cut some decent gold intersections. Hole 4 returned an impressively long interval of 2.34 g/t gold over 89.9 meters. Other highlights came from Hole 1 (82.0 meters of 1.02 g/t gold), Hole 2 (56.4 meters of 1.28 g/t gold) and Hole 8 (30.5 meters of 1.94 g/t gold).
Adding to the allure of those results is the VG Zones location across the Yukon River from and on the same magnetic trend as Kinross White Gold project (1.5 million ounces of gold). Given the quality of these initial assays, the prospect that this magnetic anomaly may host another large gold deposit seems very real. Brien Lundin, Gold Newsletter (January 2013)
