DIOS DISCOVERS A GOLDBEARING TONALITE AREA ON U33 NEAR THE GOLD GLACIAL DISPERSAL TRAIN
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA - DIOS EXPLORATION reports encouraging gold results from the Tonalite area recently discovered on its wholly owned Diamond-gold U33 project, James Bay. DIOS is pleased to announce that its 2010 follow-up work on its main gold dispersal train in tills confirmed gold occurrence in tonalite rocks in the vicinities of access roads.
In 2010, a brief (3-days) prospecting program was carried on the sector of the till gold train. Three tonalite blocks (40-75 cm in diameter) with 2-5% disseminated pyrite respectively assayed gold and silver such as 2.3 g/t Au (in grams per ton), 6.6 g/t Ag; 2.3 g/t Au, 1.6 g/t Ag; and 0.84 g/t Au, 1.5 g/t Ag. The outcrops observed in the vicinities of the auriferous floats are also composed of tonalitic rocks, and their sources could be proximal. A gold porphyry target is now considered for this area, specially as such mineralization type is known elsewhere in the Eastmain-1 region. Forty representative mineralized grab samples were collected from glacial floats. It is generally medium to coarse-grained and contains 15-25% mm quartz phenocrysts and 5% mm k-feldspar phenocrysts. A smaller (7 x 2 km) tonalite plug in contact with mafic volcanics is also located further up-ice, just at the head of the gold till train.
Gold porphyry type mineralization is often disseminated in association with fine grained disseminated pyrite (not in large quantities). For instance, the Osisko deposit in Malartic contains several million ounces of gold at a grade varying (different cut-off) between 1.2 and 1.8 g/t.
Additional field work (till sampling and prospecting) is under way in the gold anomalous float area, targeting DIOS magnetic data showing a well developed set of NNW-NS lineaments that crosscut the tonalite in this target area.
DIOS previous field work outlined a 15 km x 3-7 km well-structured gold NE anomalous dispersal train near Eastmain-1 hydropower-complex,. The gold train is composed of 47 till samples that averaged 0.48 g/t Au, of which samples 34 percent were over 0.5 g/t Au; 23 percent over 0.75 g/t Au; and 15 percent over 1.0 g/t Au including 1.085, 1.13, 1.255, 1.39, 1.60, 1.75 and 2.09 g/t Au (heavy mineral concentrates). This gold dispersal train is N240-250 striking, the same average measurements of the area reported glacial striaes.
The U33 project is located in the Opinaca-Eastmain 1 area, about 350 km northeast of Matagami, James Bay agreement area, Quebec. The U33 project is composed of 1390 map-staked mining cells (cdc) for some 725 square kilometers held by DIOS.
