DIOS DISCOVERS IN SITU GOLD PORPHYRY TYPE MINERALIZATION AT U33, JAMES
BAY, QC
MONTREAL, QUEBEC,
CANADA - Management of DIOS
EXPLORATION is very pleased to announce the discovery of in situ gold in
outcropping tonalitic rocks, a gold porphyry type model mineralization. DIOS
systematic research and sampling of glacial terranes for heavy minerals led to
this discovery located within 5 kilometers from an access road, following the
2010 work on the main gold glacial till dispersal train at the wholly-owned
diamond-gold U33 West project, Opinaca-Eastmain 1 area, Quebec,
in the region of the multi-million ounces of gold Eleonore deposit.
In
2010, a till gold train led to four tonalite floats (40-100 cm) with 1 to 5%
disseminated pyrite assaying 2.3 g/t Au, 0.74 g/t Au, 0.84 g/t Au and 2.3 g/t
Au, respectively. About 400-500 meters north of these goldbearing floats,
discovery of outcropping hematitized tonalite returning 2.2 g/t Au, (injected
by cm quartz veinlets with traces of pyrite) confirms one of the possible
sources of the till anomalies. In addition, multiple in situ gold
sources are further considered as 9 anomalous glacial sand samples (from 0.4 to
2.09 g/t Au) are located up-ice some 3 to 10 kilometers further away from the
auriferous outcropping tonalite. This fall, 46 additional till (glacial sands)
samples were just collected (including 16 samples along this particular gold
train). This sector is underlain by a geology mostly composed of tonalitic
rocks. The tonalite is generally medium to coarse-grained and contains 15-25%
mm quartz phenocrysts and 5% mm potassic feldspar phenocrysts. Dios magnetic
data shows a well-developped set of NNW-NS lineaments that cross-cut the
tonalite in this target area.
Reconnaissance field work has also outlined a plurimetric-wide east-west
sheared zone at the contact between the tonalite pluton and altered mafic
metavolcanics. The volcanics are altered in chlorite-actinolite-biotite-garnet
with traces to 3% sulfides
(pyrite-pyrrhotite-chalcopyrite-molybdenite-arsenopyrite?). They are also
injected by two generations of veins: metasomatic chlorite-epidote-potassic
feldspar cm-dm veins and late tension tourmaline-quartz & tourmaline mm-cm
veins. The tonalite is variably altered with quartz and tourmaline (locally up
to 15%) and is injected with 3-5% tourmaline-quartz-feldspar stockwork or
veinlets.
A
gold porphyry target is now considered for this area; such mineralization type
is known elsewhere in the Eastmain-1 region. Another small (7 x 2 km) tonalite
plug in contact with mafic volcanics is also located further up-ice, where
stops the gold till train.
This
fall, work was also carried out on the eastern part of the U33 property
where 2010 sampling had returned up to 37 and 24 g/t Au as well as 54 and
53.4 g/t Ag (conductor showing). A 40 km-line grid was cut and was
surveyed by Induced Polarization. Prospecting-mapping was also completed on the
grid and 210 samples were collected and sent for processing to ALS-Chemex Val
d`Or laboratory, assays pending
The
large U33 project encompasses two NTS map sheets about 350 km northeast of
Matagami. In the vicinities of Eastmain-1 hydro-complex, DIOS previous
sampling of glacial terranes outlined a 15 km x 3-7 km well-structured gold NE
anomalous dispersal train composed of 47 till samples averaging 0.48 g/t Au
including 7 samples (15%) over 1 g/t Au: 1.085, 1.13, 1.255, 1.39, 1.60, 1.75,
2.09 g/t Au (heavy mineral concentrates).
