Attention Business Editors:
Canadian Arrow and Treaty No. 3 First Nations Discuss Kenbridge Nickel Project
SUDBURY, ON, Nov. 5 /CNW/ - Canadian Arrow Mines, Ltd. (CRO: TSX-V) (the
"Company"), reports that it has started discussions with representatives from
Treaty No. 3 First Nations Chiefs' Responsible for Lands and Resources &
Economic Development regarding the Kenbridge nickel-copper project located in
Northwestern Ontario. The Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty No. 3 has several
communities located near the proposed development including Naotkamegwanning,
Northwest Angle No. 33, Northwest Angle No. 37 and Onigaming First Nations.
The Chiefs from the four communities have welcomed the economic opportunities
that Canadian Arrow will bring to their traditional territories and their
people and for their local neighbours in the area.
Canadian Arrow is progressing through the Treaty No. 3 resource law
called "Manito Aki Inakonigaawin" or, "The Great Earth Law". This law is
administered by the Grand Council and sets out standards for developing
resources within Treaty No. 3 traditional territory. These standards include
respecting the environment, Anishinaabe values and respecting aboriginal and
treaty rights. Sharing information on the project has been ongoing since May
of this year with more community information sessions planned in the near
future. Canadian Arrow recently presented an update of the Kenbridge project
at the Treaty No. 3 Chiefs Assembly held at Naotkamegwanning First Nation.
Treaty No. 3 Lands and Resource Coordinator, Clifford Bob, adds "Canadian
Arrow has emerged as a leader in aboriginal relations with respect to resource
development. They have demonstrated a willingness to listen to our concerns
and have shown respect for our resource laws, which are very important to us.
We look forward to learning more about the Kenbridge project in coming months
as Arrow continues to share information with the communities."
Kim Tyler, President of Canadian Arrow Mines commented, "We are pleased
with the progress we have made in establishing a meaningful relationship with
Treaty No. 3. The Kenbridge nickel project is a focus for Arrow, one we hope
to advance towards permitting over the next several months. We see long term
opportunities in the Kenbridge camp. It makes good business sense to develop
this project and any others in a manner that respects the environment and the
people living in the area."
"It is the goal of the Grand Council to establish strong working
relationships with any proponent who respects Anishinaabe values and
principles on the environment as well as respecting treaty and aboriginal
rights and Canadian Arrow is doing that," Clifford Bob confirmed
