DRILLING PROGRAM COMPLETE AT RED LAKE EXTENSION PROJECT
MANAGING DIRECTOR OF AUSTRALIAN AFFILIATE RESIGNS
Tri Origin Exploration Ltd. (the ?Company?) (TOE:TSX-V) is pleased to announce that it has received gold assay results from a Diamond drilling program completed at its Red Lake Extension (?RLX?) property at Red Lake, Ontario.
The program consisted of 8 holes totalling 1,323 metres. All of the holes tested airborne geophysical anomalies located within a 1.5 kilometre by 0.5 kilometre area at the north-central part of the property. Anomalous gold values of greater than 100 ppb (0.1 grams per tonne) were detected in samples from 7 of the 8 holes with a maximum value of 577 ppb (0.58 grams per tonne) over a core interval of 1 metre in drill hole number 3. All of the holes intersected an abundance of sedimentary rock containing disseminated sulphide mineralization with occasional layers of massive sulphide. This sulphidic rock resembles rock referred to as iron formation that is present within the Red Lake greenstone belt in the vicinity of the Red Lake gold mine. The Company has delineated a large number of targets extending across the property. These targets are covered by overburden and hence, their geological setting is unknown. The next phase of drilling will target geophysical anomalies nearby the iron formation and thought to be associated with volcanic rock, which is a more typical host of Red Lake-type gold deposits.
The success of recent drilling in identifying rocks resembling those nearby the major gold deposits of the Red Lake Gold District further validates Tri Origin?s exploration model. Management is excited that gold, even at low levels, has been detected in these rocks as the area was previously believed to be only granite and barren of gold mineralization.
RLX is a gold exploration project comprised of approximately 30,000 acres located adjacent to Goldcorp?s mine property and 15 kilometres southeast of Goldcorp?s Red Lake mine. The highly prolific Red Lake District hosts several other major, past-producing gold mines and has produced over 20 million ounces of gold. The Company?s work continues to validate its hypothesis that RLX is underlain by the important mine trend rock units that host the nearby Red Lake gold mines.
The RLX project was conducted by Peter Canam, a geological contractor for the Company, and supervised by Robert Valliant who has more than 30 years experience in the exploration industry. Gold assaying was conducted by SGS Laboratories (?SGS?) of Don Mills, Ontario which is certified for the work undertaken. A fire assay / atomic absorption method on 30 gram samples was used. Samples were prepared for assay by SGS from sawn, BTW-size drill core taken from continuous intervals of drill core, generally of 1.0 metre in length but ranging from 0.4 metres to 1.0 metre in length.
The Company also reports that Bruce Robertson, Managing Director of its Australian affiliate, Tri Origin Minerals Ltd. (?TRO?), has resigned effective December 19, 2008. Bruce?s decision to resign as Managing Director was taken following the deferral of financing and development of the Woodlawn Retreatment Project until market conditions improve and as part of a programme of initiatives aimed at preserving TRO?s cash resources. We wish to thank Bruce for his dedicated efforts while at TRO and his contribution to all aspects of TRO?s growth.
