CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Duke Energy Corp. (DUK) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $97 million.
On a per-share basis, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said it had net income of 14 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 86 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 88 cents per share.
For the year, the company reported profit of $1.88 billion, or $2.66 per share. Revenue was reported as $23.93 billion.
Duke Energy expects full-year earnings in the range of $4.55 to $4.75 per share.
Duke Energy shares have fallen almost 5 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased 2 percent. The stock has risen 11 percent in the last 12 months.
