DuPont DD announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted registration approval for its new disease control active ingredient, oxathiapiprolin. The ingredient will be marketed by DuPont Crop Protection under the Zorvec moniker.
Zorvec is the first member of a new class of fungicides that represents a significant improvement in disease control for growers of potatoes, grapes, vegetables and other specialty crops. It has unique properties that will deliver visible results to the growers. Zorvec, which aims to address the challenge of producing high-quality crops to feed a growing world population, is expected to change the way farmers perceive disease control. .
DuPont said that Zorvec will deliver control and consistency that will enable the farmers to boost yield, realize better quality and improved productivity for a more successful crop. With this approval DuPont will take this innovative new technology to growers around the globe. Upon receiving other pending approvals, DuPont plans to launch Zorvec disease control in a number of countries including Mexico, China, and Australia later in 2015.
As per a previous agreement, DuPont has granted a license to Syngenta to develop products containing the former’s fungicide oxathiapiprolin. Per this agreement, Syngenta will get exclusive rights for foliar and soil uses on all crops in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
Recently, DuPont opened its Integrated Seed Science Center in Johnston, IA. The center, which is the second facility in the DuPont Integrated Seed Science Network, is responsible for the development and evaluation of seed treatment formulations, applications and seed handling techniques. DuPont, through this center, strives to deliver the appropriate seed treatments to farmers to help optimize the genetic performance of seeds.
