Harvest Natural Resources Elects Two New Directors



HOUSTON, Feb 21, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Harvest Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE: HNR) today announced that its Board of Directors has elected Igor Effimoff and Robert Irelan to serve as directors on its Board.

Dr. Effimoff has over 30 years of upstream technical and managerial experience internationally and domestically. He currently provides geological, geophysical and engineering consulting services to evaluate investment and business development opportunities for various international and domestic clients. Previously, Dr. Effimoff served as Chief Operating Officer for Teton Petroleum Company from 2002 through 2005 and President of Pennzoil Caspian Corporation from 1996 through 2001.

Dr. Effimoff has a doctorate degree in geology from the University of Cincinnati and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. He is a fellow of the American Association of Petroleum Geology, Geological Society of America, Society of Exploration Geophysicists and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Mr. Irelan has over 37 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Irelan retired from Occidental Petroleum in 2002 where he had served as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Operations since 1998. Prior to Occidental Petroleum, Bob held various positions at Conoco, Inc. during his 28-year tenure, last serving as Regional Manager for their upstream onshore business.

Mr. Irelan earned a Professional Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering with advanced studies in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines.
