Independent Resources () told investors it has identified two new substantial exploration leads at the Ksar Hadada project in Tunisia.
The leads, identified via a recent remote sensing survey as well as existing 2D seismic, are found within the in the prolific Acacus play prevalent, in the Ghadames Basin of North Africa.
The same survey has also increased confidence in the Gazelle prospect, the company added, which was identified and estimated in the order of 37.1mln barrels in 2014.
IRG now estimates Gazelle's resource potential at around 77mln barrels oil equivalent, with estimates ranging between 15 to 175mln barrels.
The two new leads, meanwhile, are estimated at 49mln and 13mln barrels oil equivalent.
Work continues to identify specific drilling locations, based on the company's latest assessment of the area.
IRG added that the size of the identified prospects and leads within the Ksar Hadada permit are very commercially attractive, despite today's lower oil prices.
"These results provide further evidence that the Company is able to utilise a number of innovative tools to increase the likelihood of success in drilling high quality prospects in the Ksar Hadada permit," the company said in a statement.
"A number of companies are continuing to evaluate the farm in potential of the Ksar Hadada permit."
