EXPLORATION HIGLIGHTS:

� Assays obtained from the first hole drilled on the Black Thor chromite zone (BT-08-01), yielded 40.4% Cr2O3 over 46.3 metres
� The above high-grade interval is contained within a broader zone of chromite mineralization assaying 30.1% Cr2O3 over a core length of 100.8 metres

Montreal, Quebec, Canada, November 26, 2008 � Freewest Resources Canada Inc. (FWR:TSX-V) (the "Company") is pleased to announce partial assay results obtained from recent Diamond drilling of the Black Thor chromite zone.. The Black Thor chromite zone is situated on the Company's 100%-owned McFaulds property (the "Property") located 300 kilometres north of Nakina in the James Bay Lowlands of northern Ontario. The Property, consisting of 4 mineral claims or 1036 hectares, comprises one of three properties in which the Company is currently exploring on its own and in strategic joint-ventures in the emerging "Ring of Fire" metal district.

BLACK THOR CHROMITE OCCURRENCE:

Drill-hole BT-08-01was the first hole completed on the Black Thor chromite zone. Highlighting the drill results is the intersection of a Main zone of chromite enrichment assaying 40.4% Cr2O3 over an intersected width of 46.3 metres. This is contained within a wider zone of mineralization yielding 30.1% Cr2O3 over an intersected thickness of 100.8 metres. In addition to the Main zone, a Lower zone of chromite was encountered over an intersected width of 43.5 metres near the top of the hole. Despite lower chromite grades relative to the Main zone, the discovery of the Lower zone demonstrates the existence of multiple chromite horizons in the host intrusion. The Main zone lies stratigraphically higher in the layered ultramafic intrusion relative to the Lower zone. Intersected widths obtained in the drilling are very close to true widths. The assay details of the mineralized intercepts are tabled below.



As previously reported, the Black Thor chromite zone has been traced over an intermittent 1600-metre strike length and to a vertical depth of 300 metres (see Freewest news release dated October 17, 2008). The limited drilling indicates the presence of thick zones of northwest-dipping semi-massive to massive chromite mineralization, attaining true widths of up to 90 metres. Chromite mineralization is hosted within a continuous northeast to southwest-trending ultramafic sill complex consisting of variably altered dunite, peridotite and pyroxenite. Mineralization remains completely open-ended along strike and to depth.

Additional assays from BT-08-01 including those for platinum, palladium, rhodium, gold, copper and nickel have yet to be received. Such assays will be released when available.

CURRENT EXPLORATION PROGRAM:

As announced on November 21, 2008, Diamond drilling has resumed on the Property, specifically to continue testing the Black Thor chromite zone and to test several prospective nickel-copper-platinum group element (PGE) targets. The nickel-copper-PGE targets are situated stratigraphically lower in the intrusion, or in the footwall to chromite mineralization. Additionally, a systematic gravimetric survey is currently being completed over the entire grid covering both the Black Thor chromite zone and several coincident electrical conductors and magnetic anomalies thought to be highly prospective for nickel-copper-PGE deposits. It is anticipated that the gravimetric results will be forthcoming shortly and will assist in prioritizing Diamond drilling targets for both chromite and nickel-copper-PGE mineralization.

We are also very encouraged by the chrome to iron ratios of semi-massive to massive chromite mineralization that are in the order of 2:1. Currently, high-quality chromite producers in the world have ores that are characterized by chrome to iron ratios of greater than 1.8:1."

ANALYTICAL PROTOCOL:

All of the assays reported herein were completed by Activation Laboratories of Ancaster, Ontario. High-grade chrome samples are analyzed by the neutron activation method (INAA) involving irradiating the samples prior to the final analyses. The method also provides analyses for elemental chrome and iron as well as Cr2O3.
