Appalaches is in the hunt
Rimouski, April 19, 2007 – In response to the strong demand for uranium, Ressources Appalaches (APP-TSX-V)
is directing its exploration programs towards a
search for an open-pit deposit on its Ashini property, in the Godbout region of
Quebec. The
price of uranium has risen from $US20/lb U3O8 in 2005 to
more than $US110/lb U3O8 in 2007, owing to the great
excess of demand over supply.
On the Ashini
property, the generally sub-horizontal attitude of the uranium-bearing pegmatite
veins should enable a rapid evaluation of the deposit at no great cost. This
approach will also allow more holes to be drilled over a larger area. The work
program will mainly consist of drilling and pitting, and will begin as soon as
the snow melts.
The increase
in uranium exploration activity in the Godbout region is also a highly
encouraging sign. Bactec Mining Corp. has recently announced that it has
carried out drilling a few kilometres to the south of the Ashini property
(press release, April 11, 2007).
Appalaches is
well positioned in this area, holding 50% of the claims covering a major
geologic structure marked by a
strong magnetic signature. With four uranium showings whose best grade is
0.22%, Appalaches has high hopes for the results of its exploration work.
