TORONTO (AP) _ Kinross Gold Corp. (KGC) on Tuesday reported a loss of $52.7 million in its third quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had a loss of 5 cents. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 2 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 3 cents per share.
The gold mining company posted revenue of $809.4 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $727.5 million.
In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, the company's shares hit $1.78. A year ago, they were trading at $2.34.
