MANAMA, March 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Oil, Electricity and Water Bakheet Al-Rashidi, along with an entourage of officials, arrived on Wednesday in Bahrain to partake in a ceremony marking establishment of the Gulf Refining Union (GRU).
Al-Rashidi and the other Kuwaiti officials were welcomed upon arrival at Bahrain International Airport by Bahraini Minister of Oil Sheikh Mohammad Bin Khalifa, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and the State of Kuwait Ambassador Sheikh Azzam Mubarak Al-Sabah.
The Bahraini Government approved establishing the union at a session held on July 11, 2016.
The Bahrain-based federation aims at boosting inter-GCC cooperation in crude oil refining and expanding coordination with the sector stakeholders abroad.
The union constitutes a platform comprising representatives of oil refineries, gas plants, distribution installations and petrochemical complexes of the oil and gas companies in the GCC countries.
Its establishment involved the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco), Kuwait Petroleum International, the Bahraini Petroleum Company (Babco), the Kuwaiti National Petroleum Company and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc). (end) hmd.rk
