Greensteam system will produce high quality renewable steam using waste agricultural biomass as fuel. The demonstration project is located in Aera's Belridge producing complex outside Bakersfield, CA.

Driving through the oilfield and approaching the demonstration project site, the first thing you notice is the changing skyline. Several pieces of Greensteam equipment are approximately 50 feet tall, and tower over the surrounding producing wells. This tall equipment processes, stores, and environmentally manages the biomass fuel. From left to right are a cyclone, the dry fuel storage bin, and a baghouse.

Mar 24, when these pictures were taken, crews from three different contractors were working at the site simultaneously - Brinderson, installing major mechanical equipment and starting electrical work,

Baghouse Industrial Sheet Metal Services, installing the baghouses they manufactured, and Advanced Conveyor Technology, manufacturing and installing conveyor systems and fabricating similar equipment. Following a rigorous qualification process, contractors were carefully selected for their expertise and work packages were scoped to minimize overlaps and interferences. So far, it seems our engineering and careful planning "upfront" is paying dividends in construction efficiency, and we are pleased with the rapid progress.

The crew from Baghouse Industrial installs the exhaust gas baghouse. The operation was performed with maximum attention to safety, as is all of the work at the site. All contractors are required to undergo training by Jon Carrithers, Global Greensteam's safety manager.

The dry fuel storage bin holds enough fuel for several hours of operations. Fuel is loaded into the top and fed by gravity

through the bottom of the bin, where flow rate is controlled by valves into a screw conveyor.

In the background, workers from Advanced Conveyor Technology assemble the wet fuel storage bin, where biomass will be stored after receiving and initial preparation.

Advanced Conveyor Technology is manufacturing and installing the conveyors which will move wet biomass through the Greensteam process.

By design, the mechanical equipment installation started before the electrical installation, which has now also started. The ladder-looking equipment in the picture at right is cable tray. Equipment is powered and connected to the process control system by wires and cables which will be laid in these trays.

Although the mechanical equipment is the most visual element of project progress, the superior Greensteam process performance stems from proprietary process control.

Alan's direction.

Precise control is a key element of the Greensteam process.To achieve this, motors are controlled by sophisticated variable speed drives, housed in cabinets as shown. The cabinets are ruggedized for outdoor installation.
