Material Added to Leach Pad
- The new Leach Heap, currently under construction, was estimated
recently at 90,000 metric tonnes, approximately 30,000 tonnes of which was
residual ore from the Open Pit, together with 10,000 tonnes derived from
the El Pozo prospect, and 50,000 tonnes taken from the heap proper. Only
a negligible tonnage still remains in the Open Pit.
A decision was taken to configure the construction of the
new Heap so as to create a maximum of surface area as rapidly as possible for
immediate leaching. To facilitate this, some tonnage at the lower
levels of the existing Heap will remain uncrushed. Larger loading
and dozing equipment is on order, to speed up this process.

Crusher Operations
- The Nordberg NW 1415 impact crusher operated normally throughout the
reporting period. Wear plates in the crushing chamber require replacement and
will be changed out shortly. Processing the dryer ore from the Open Pit and
from the outside prospects resulted in extremely dusty conditions for a brief
period. The equipment contractor utilized a 17,000 liter water tank truck to
counteract this.
Accessing More Mineable Material
- Further operations at El Pozo await assay results. Among the peripheral
prospects, the El Cobre area has been identified as promising from surface
sampling. A series of exploratory trenches is currently being excavated on
this property. The El Este prospect, mentioned in the previous report,
remains an exploration priority.
Leaching-
Installation of drip lines on the new Leach Heap proceeded during the period.
An area approximately 100m x 32m is now covered. Sodium cyanide was added to
the Barren Pond on June 7 and pumping lixiviant to the Heap commenced on June
16, following final repair of all defects in the Pregnant Pond liner.
Approximately 70,000 tonnes is currently under leach. Delivery of the final
items required to reactivate the Assay Lab is expected shortly.
SART Copper Recovery Plant
- All Dennerik Engineering personnel have now left the site. BioteQ has
appointed Mr. Max Nodwell as Senior Project Engineer. Most recent activities
include installation of remaining pumps and instruments. Immediate work
involves large diameter piping, cable trays and the installation of a fuel
tank for the generators.

Lixiviaci�n - El contenido del nuevo Patio de
Lixiviaci�n, que se construye actualmente, fue estimado �ltimamente en 90,000
toneladas m�tricas, de las cuales 30,000 proven�an del Tajo Abierto, junto
con 10,000 toneladas del prospecto El Pozo y 50,000 toneladas extra�das del
mont�n existente. Solo quedan tonelajes menores en el Tajo Abierto.
Se tom� la decisi�n de configurar el Patio nuevo de modo
que se creara un m�ximo de �rea superficial en el menor tiempo posible para
su lixiviaci�n inmediata. Para facilitar este proceso, algunos
tonelajes en los niveles inferiores del mont�n existente quedar�n sin
triturar. Se planea alquilar equipo de excavaci�n y de movimiento de tierra
m�s grande a fin de acelerar este proceso.
Operaciones de trituraci�n
- La quebradora de impacto Nordberg, modelo 1415 NW, funcionaba normalmente
durante el per�odo del informe. Las placas de desgaste (blindaje) en la
c�mara de trituraci�n necesitan ser reemplazadas y ser�n cambiadas
pr�ximamente. El procesamiento del mineral m�s seco del Tajo Abierto y de los
prospectos exteriores dio lugar como consecuencia a condiciones
extremadamente polvorosas durante un per�odo breve. El contratista de equipo
utiliz� un aljibe de 17,000 litros de capacidad para aliviar la situaci�n.
Acceso a m�s mineral rentable -
Operaciones futuras a El Pozo esperar�n los resultados de ensayes pendientes.
Entre los prospectos perif�ricos, se ha identificado como prometedor a
"El Cobre" seg�n muestras anteriores de la superficie. Se
est� actualmente excavando una serie de trincheras en esta propiedad. El
prospecto "El Este" que se mencion� en el informe anterior, queda
como una alta prioridad exploratoria.
Lixiviaci�n -
Durante el per�odo, se procedi� con la instalaci�n en el patio nuevo de las
l�neas de goteo, las mismas que actualmente cubren una �rea de
aproximadamente 100m por 32m. El d�a 7 de junio se ha agregado cianuro de
sodio a la Pileta de Soluci�n Pobre y el d�a 16 se comenz� a bombear la
soluci�n lixiviante al Patio Nuevo, luego de haber reparado todos los
defectos en el revestimiento pl�stico de la Pileta de Soluci�n Rica.
Actualmente quedan bajo lixiviaci�n unas 70,000 toneladas de mineral. Se
espera la pronta entrega de los requisitos finales necesarios para la
reactivaci�n del Laboratorio Anal�tico.
Planta SART de Recuperaci�n de
Cobre - Todo el personal de Dennerik
Engineering han abandonado el lugar. BioteQ ha nombrado al Sr. Max Nodwell
como Jefe Ingeniero del Proyecto. Las actividades m�s recientes incluyen la
instalaci�n de las bombas e instrumentos que faltaban. El trabajo a realizar
inmediatamente tiene que ver con tuber�a de gran di�metro, bandejas de
cableado y la instalaci�n de un tanque de combustible para las generadoras.
