Constitution Mining Completes Initial Social Base
Line Study in Gold Sands District
Buenos Aires, Argentina - April 7th, 2009 -
Constitution Mining Corp. (CMIN.OB)
announces the successful completion of a social base line study following a
series of individual and community meetings held with local residents,
which identified the social and economic realities of developing the Gold
Sands district.
The program included meetings and interviews with relevant
stakeholders and was conducted with the help of the Company's Community
Relations Officer in conjunction with CMIN's
industry partners, the Stocker Group and AMEC. The primary focus was to
assess the needs of the communities and to provide information to the
public with respect to the Company's exploration and development program. More
importantly, the program has provided a channel for the Company to
articulate and demonstrate in a transparent and continuous way its
commitment to sustainable development in a participative relationship with
local communities and with respect to local culture, values and traditions,
as well as the environment.
Constitution Mining CEO, Dr. Willem Fuchter
commented, "Having identified the needs of the surrounding
communities, we have established a workable plan that can create a long
lasting win-win relationship for our shareholders, local residents and Peru in
general."
Approximately 400 in-depth interviews were conducted by the Stocker
Group with heads of households, community leaders, administration
officials, church groups, and locally-resident NGOs. The findings of the
initial study indicated a deficiency in general infrastructure (water,
sanitary installations), housing, education, medical services and
employment opportunities. In general, the expectations of the communities
are with employment possibilities in an environmentally friendly project,
while the authorities showed a deep interest in the development potential
that the project may have for the district as a whole.
Dr. Fuchter continued, ""The
fact that we are introducing ‘clean and green' mining methods and
technologies to extract gold from the host sands and gravels was key to
gaining broad community support. We aim to be a shining example of how 21st
century mining can achieve excellence in environmental standards, in
addition to how to successfully marry local community interests to those of
our shareholders."
In a Community Workshop organized by AMEC, as mandated under
Peruvian law and with officials from the Ministry of Mining and Energy
officials in attendance, local authority representatives offered all
necessary support while acknowledging that approval has to be granted by
the community; this was unanimously obtained, and the Company is now in a
position to proceed with its exploration and development program.
About Constitution Mining Corp.
Constitution Mining intends to consistently increase the amount of honest
money - gold and silver - underlying the number of shares the company has
outstanding. The company's primary area of focus to create this value is
the rapidly developing region known as the "Gold Sands of Peru",
where it has optioned 382km2 (229 square miles) of mining properties - the
largest property holdings in the district. The Gold Sands of Peru have been
formed by the erosion of the gold-rich hinterland. For millions of years
two major rivers systems have been carving their way through the gold-rich
Andean mountains of Peru and Ecuador, depositing gold in loose gravels and
sands - Gold Sands - below the Manseriche gorge
in Northeastern, Peru. Privately funded
historical drilling of more than 500 holes in a 'proof of concept' zone
located on Constitution Mining's properties, indicates the potential for
the region to contain many millions of ounces of alluvial gold. By
utilizing new mining technologies that are both efficient and
environmentally friendly, the experienced management of Constitution Mining
fully intends to capitalize on this exciting opportunity to provide
long-term value for all shareholders. Additional information about
