African Copper-Management Reorganization
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - June 13, 2008) - African Copper PLC ("African Copper" or the "Company") (AIM:ACU)(TSX:ACU)(BOTSWANA:AFRICAN COPPER) announces the appointment of Mr. Christopher Reid Fredericks as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Fredericks was formerly the Company's Chief Operating Officer. It is expected that Mr. Fredericks will join the Board of Directors as of 1 July 2008. Mr. Joseph Hamilton has resigned as Chief Executive Officer and from the Board of Directors with mutual consent. Mr. Fredericks has an extensive track record with over 29 years experience in base metal mining and exploration from exposure to large-scale open pit and underground mining operations in Zambia, Botswana and South Africa. Mr. Fredericks is 54 years old and holds a degree in Geology from Rhodes University, South Africa. He joined the Company in January 2007 from LionOre Mining International where he held various senior operating and corporate positions. Most recently he was employed by LionOre Africa Head Office in Johannesburg as the Business Development Executive, having been transferred from the flagship Tati Nickel operation in Botswana where he was the General Manager and a Director. During his career he has actively been involved with the commissioning, development and growth of a number of mining projects from their inception through to full-scale production and, as such he brings exceptional professional and technical skills that will assist the Company to establish itself as a new copper producer. Mr. Fredericks does not hold any Ordinary Shares in the Company. He is currently a director of the following companies which are subsidiaries of African Copper: Messina Copper Botswana (Pty) Limited and Matsitama Minerals (Pty) Limited. He has held the following directorship in the last five years: Tati Nickel Mining Company (Pty) Ltd. Save as set out above no disclosures are required to be made for the purposes of rule 17, paragraph (g) of Schedule 2 of the AIM Rules for Companies. Mr. Roy Corrans, the Chairman of the Company, commented, "We are delighted that Chris has agreed to become Chief Executive Officer of the Company.
