Once again, volumes and market action overseas are lacklustre, leading to slight declines in most indexes and slight gains in most bond markets. Spanish bonds, of course, have been drifting lower in price/higher in yield for the past week, and have just ticked north of 6.5% in the 10 year area. Positive retail sales out of Italy are not even bolstering the MIB index, despite coming in at +0.4% for the month, and having the previous month revised higher - a significant positive surprise. Perhaps slightly stronger EU consumer prices are giving the market pause. Stronger CPI during a period of slowdown like this is not a good thing.
