The north Pilbara is an enormously prospective and vastly under explored iron ore province. Being passed over in favour of the central Pilbara for the past 30 years has left the province almost entirely untested by drilling. commented David Flanagan, Atlas Irons Managing Director.

Excellent results like these from first pass drilling, adjacent to road and rail (FMG and BHPB), 120 kilometres from the worlds largest multi-user iron ore port are likely to deliver resource growth and a good basis from which to build a significant new iron ore company.

Since reporting the positive Prefeasibility Study in July 2008, Atlas has focused its Abydos drilling efforts on achieving three key objectives: 1. Growth in resources; 2. Growth in reserves; and 3. Extensions to mine life.   Early indications are that this drilling will achieve all three objectives and strongly enhance project economics.

To date 120 holes for 5,272 metres have been drilled across four deposits. Results returned for 90 holes indicate strong potential for highly saleable ore with excellent iron grades and low levels of contaminants. Results from the balance of the holes are due from the assay lab during January 2009 and are expected to provide further information on deposit geometry and tonnage potential.

Atlas has previously reported an exploration target for the Greater Abydos region of 100 to 140 million tonnes at 57 to 60% Fe.  These new discoveries will further contribute to delivering on this exploration target.  Atlas is on target to report revised and new resources and reserves across these and all other projects in January 2009.

Background Atlas Iron Limited

Atlas recently commenced mining and shipping ore from its 100%-owned Pardoo DSO Project in the Pilbara of Western Australia.  Atlas is fully funded with zero debt and planning to export 1 million tonnes during its first 12 months of operations at its Pardoo DSO Project, growing to 3 Mtpa for year 2. With additional export tonnages from its Abydos DSO Project, the Company is targeting exports at a rate of 6 Mtpa by 2010, growing to 12 Mtpa by 2012.

Exploration Results

The information in this report that relates to exploration results is based on information compiled by Mr. David Flanagan who is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and is an employee of Atlas Iron Limited. David Flanagan has sufficient experience which is relevant to the style of mineralisation and type of deposit under consideration and to the activity which he is undertaking to qualify as a Competent Person as defined in the 2004 Edition of the Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results. David Flanagan consents to the inclusion in the report of the matters based on his information in the form and context in which it appears.

References to exploration targets

Atlas has reported a resource of 15.13 million tonnes at 56.9% Fe and a probable reserve of 7.428 million tonnes at 58.1% Fe at its 100% owned Abydos DSO Project. While the Company intends to do further exploration on the Abydos Project tenements and remains optimistic it will report additional resources and reserves in the future, any discussion in relation to targets, resources, reserves or ore over and above the resource of 15.13 million tonnes at 56.9% Fe and probable reserve of 7.428 million tonnes at 58.1% Fe is only conceptual in nature. There has been insufficient exploration to define a Mineral Resource over and above the resource of 15.13 million tonnes at 56.9% Fe, and it is uncertain if further exploration will result in the determination of a Mineral Resource over and above the resource of 15.13 million tonnes at 56.9% Fe nor the development of a reserve over and above the probable reserve of 7.428 million tonnes at 58.1% Fe.
