Business as usual for local residents and shops
January will see a major upgrade that will keep gas flowing to residents and businesses in Langold, North Nottinghamshire, until the end of the century.
In a 12-week project National Grid engineers will be renewing more than 2.5 kilometres of gas pipes. The existing iron mains will be replaced with tough plastic pipes that have a life span of at least 80 years.
Work is due to start on Monday 4 January in the main A60 Doncaster Road, between the junction of the B6463 to opposite 12 West View. The only other road to be affected by the work will be Harrison Drive.
National Grid authorising engineer Paul Martin said: 'We're sorry for any inconvenience this essential work may cause. However, it's vital that we replace ageing gas mains to ensure that local residents and businesses can continue to enjoy a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come. Our engineers will complete the work as soon as they can with as little disruption as possible. We very much appreciate the co-operation and patience of local residents, shops and motorists. The work has been scheduled to avoid the busy Christmas period.'
