MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ NiSource Inc. (NI) on Thursday reported earnings of $31.4 million in its third quarter.
The Merrillville, Indiana-based company said it had profit of 10 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and to account for discontinued operations, were 14 cents per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 16 cents per share.
The energy holding company posted revenue of $1.12 billion in the period.
NiSource expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.61 to $1.71 per share.
NiSource shares have climbed 27 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 7 percent. The stock has increased 30 percent in the last 12 months.
