PORTIA PROCESSING PLANT TREATS FIRST GOLD ORE
HIGHLIGHTS
-
Processing plant construction completed and commissioned on first gold ore.
Havilah Resources Limited ("Havilah" or "Company") is pleased to report that yesterday it commenced processing of the first gold ore through its gravity gold plant at the Portia Gold Mine situated northwest of Broken Hill. The plant is presently being commissioned on low grade ore to identify and address any operational issues with the objective of optimising the plant ahead of commencement of processing of high grade ore. This follows several days of water commissioning to comprehensively test the pipework and functioning of all automated controls in the processing circuit. Ore will be sourced from the stockpile generated from mining the interim sub‐pit as previously reported.
Commenting on this significant milestone Havilah's Managing Director, Dr Chris Giles, said:
"It is very pleasing to have achieved completion of plant construction and to see ore going through the processing plant.
"It is a tribute to our construction team, who have been ably assisted by personnel from our partner, Consolidated Mining and Civil (CMC), that the plant has been completed two and half months ahead of schedule and on budget. "Once we are satisfied that the plant is operating according to design on the low grade ore, we will move to processing the high grade ore stockpile in order to maximise gold production over the next few weeks" he said.

In the meantime, CMC are rapidly removing the remaining overburden to access additional ore, with the objective of maintaining a continuous supply of ore to the plant following exhaustion of the current ore stockpile.
Havilah's geologists are testing new bedrock drill samples via washing, panning and counting gold particles, and pleasingly have identified significant gold in the bedrock beneath the interim sub‐pit. Considerably more work will be required to accurately determine the grade, distribution and likely tonnages of any such bedrock economic material.
