SASKATOON, Saskatchewan (AP) _ Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan (POT) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $417 million.
On a per-share basis, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based company said it had net income of 50 cents.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 52 cents per share.
The producer of potash and other fertilizers posted revenue of $1.73 billion in the period, which beat Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.72 billion.
Potash Corp. expects full-year earnings to be $1.75 to $1.95 per share.
Potash Corp. shares have decreased 24 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 26 percent in the last 12 months.
