Potash One Inc. submits 'project proposal' for proposed potash mine to provincial Environment Ministry
By Bruce Johnstone, Leader-Post
REGINA - Potash One Inc. has submitted the "project proposal" for its proposed $2-billion, 2.5-million-tonne-per-year solution potash mine to the provincial Environment Ministry.
The project proposal represents "the first formal step towards obtaining environmental approval for Potash One's Legacy potash solution mining project," located 80 kilometres northwest of Regina, the Vancouver-based junior mining company said in a press release Tuesday.
The document outlines the solution mining process being proposed by Potash One and its potential impacts on the environment. It's the precursor to the environmental impact statement (EIS), a much more detailed document.
Mike Ferguson, vice-president of projects for Potash One, said the project proposal enables Saskatchewan Environment to outline its concerns and questions about the project. "It prompts them to respond to us with project-specific guidelines.''
